Positive Thinking Day was all about taking time to think about ourselves and others. We thought about what we liked about ourselves and some classes looked at stories relating to self-esteem and positivity.
Eli from Gold Group visited some of the Upper School classes during the day and provided sessions which encouraged Mindfulness amongst the children. These were very well-received. Thank you to Eli for taking the time to share her skills with several classes on this day.
Another brilliant part of Positive Thinking Day was our 'Butterfly Release'...
Butterfly posters were created for every child in school and put up in the corridor outside their classrooms. Throughout the day, staff and pupils wrote short notes on the children's posters to say why each child was unique and special to them. At the end of the day, every child went away with a poster which was full of positive comments and reasons why they are so uniquely wonderful.
After school, a similar exercise was arranged for staff and all staff spent some of their class meeting time writing on their colleague's posters and reminding them of their best qualities and why they are a joy to work with.
We also started a 'Wall of Positivity' in the Staff room, where staff wrote 'shout-outs' to colleagues, on post-it notes, telling them reasons why they are great. As you can see below, the wall was soon full!
It was a very positive day at Ridgeway Thank you to everyone involved!
