I am a retired Senior Civil Servant. I joined the Civil Service late in my career as HR Director for the Child Support Agency, a government agency that at the time was failing the children it had been created to support. I am proud to have played a part on the Executive Team that transformed the organisation. Latterly I was HR Director with the Department for Work and Pensions an organisation tasked with supporting the most vulnerable in society. My career prior to the Civil Service was spent in the private sector in manufacturing and service industries.

I live just outside of Stratford upon Avon with Madi, my partner, and our son Luke who is 10 years old. I have two older children - Chris (35) and Laura (33) and two grandchildren, Alfie (8) and Ellie (6). I enjoy walking, cycling, reading and listening to music and love the theatre when we can get there. I also enjoy watching Luke play cricket and as Madi has started a women’s team, watching Madi too.

I strongly believe that all children deserve the very best opportunities that life has to offer them. I am proud to be associated with Ridgeway school, working with talented and committed teachers who work with love, care and determination to give all of our special children a unique education that develops each of them to their full potential.

This is now my fourth year as a Teacher at Ridgeway, working predominantly in the Lower School. I completed a specialist SEN Teacher Training course prior to joining the Ridgeway school team and have vast personal and professional experience of Special Educational Needs. I have previously worked for a variety of respite services, Warwickshire County Council and The National Autistic Society. I am passionate about SEN and developing children’s independence and resilience. I am also passionate about Mental Health and Wellbeing of pupils and staff and have been working hard on enhancing this area at Ridgeway. I joined the Governing Body a year ago, as I wanted to gain a greater insight into the running of the school. It is great to be part of such a strong Governing Body, and to be involved in making decisions which enable the children at Ridgeway to make such fantastic progress.

It is a privilege to be part of the Ridgeway community on two fronts:

As a parent - Where I see my child and his classmates receiving individual care and support from a highly committed school-wide staff offering a safe environment for tailored learning targets, agreed in a pro-active & supportive partnership with us as a family.

As a Governor - Where I witness similarly committed individuals pulling together to ensure the school and Governing board are aligned in vision and goals to sustainably move Ridgeway forward for both current and future pupils.

I currently work as an accountant with a background in management information which I hope will help to support the governing board’s decision-making process. I am very keen to learn and develop my skills to be an asset to Ridgeway and all its stakeholders.

I have a Local Authority background currently working as a Health and Safety Manager so I am keen to use my knowledge and experience in this area and help support the school to ensure the pupils are provided with the best care, facilities and resources and receive the very best teaching and learning experience it can offer.
