I am a retired Senior Civil Servant. I joined the Civil Service late in my career as HR Director for the Child Support Agency, a government agency that at the time was failing the children it had been created to support. I am proud to have played a part on the Executive Team that transformed the organisation. Latterly I was HR Director with the Department for Work and Pensions an organisation tasked with supporting the most vulnerable in society. My career prior to the Civil Service was spent in the private sector in manufacturing and service industries.

I live just outside of Stratford upon Avon with Madi, my partner, and our son Luke who is 10 years old. I have two older children - Chris (35) and Laura (33) and two grandchildren, Alfie (8) and Ellie (6). I enjoy walking, cycling, reading and listening to music and love the theatre when we can get there. I also enjoy watching Luke play cricket and as Madi has started a women’s team, watching Madi too.

I strongly believe that all children deserve the very best opportunities that life has to offer them. I am proud to be associated with Ridgeway school, working with talented and committed teachers who work with love, care and determination to give all of our special children a unique education that develops each of them to their full potential.

I have previously worked for a variety of respite services, Warwickshire County Council and The National Autistic Society. I am passionate about SEND and developing children’s independence and resilience. I am also passionate about Mental Health and Wellbeing of pupils and staff and have been working hard on enhancing this area at Ridgeway. I joined the Governing Body a year ago, as I wanted to gain a greater insight into the running of the school. It is great to be part of such a strong Governing Body, and to be involved in making decisions which enable the children at Ridgeway to make such fantastic progress.

It is a privilege to be part of the Ridgeway community on two fronts:

As a parent - Where I see my child and his classmates receiving individual care and support from a highly committed school-wide staff offering a safe environment for tailored learning targets, agreed in a pro-active & supportive partnership with us as a family.

As a Governor - Where I witness similarly committed individuals pulling together to ensure the school and Governing board are aligned in vision and goals to sustainably move Ridgeway forward for both current and future pupils.

I currently work as an accountant with a background in management information which I hope will help to support the governing board’s decision-making process. I am very keen to learn and develop my skills to be an asset to Ridgeway and all its stakeholders.

Term of Office: 4 Years     Expires: 10/09/23

Business Interests: Trustee at Little Willows Preschool

Attended: N/A (2018/19)

I am an early years educator and have been the Manager of a local pre-school setting for the past 21 years. I absolutely believe that education should be wholly inclusive, removing limits and offering a unique learning experience for every child. We have supported a number of children with very high level learning difficulties, some of whom transfer to Ridgeway School for their future school.

I am married, live in Leamington Spa and have two children, a son, who has Aspergers and a daughter, who was diagnosed with ADHD during her university years. We are also foster parents and, in 2012, Ryan came to live with us. Ryan has a rare chromosomal disorder and attachment disorder and his complex needs were very challenging. After one term in mainstream, he was offered a place at Ridgeway in 2014. Ryan has become a shining testament to the outstanding nurturing teaching, understanding and empathy that Ridgeway has provided for him and our family. They have given him an environment in which he feels safe, loved and valued, where his difficulties were understood and supported and he is becoming an increasingly confident and calm young boy who is now able to learn.

In this ever changing society in which we live, we need to be progressive in being able to meet the needs of all our children now and in the future. I am absolutely delighted to be a member of the governing body and to be part of a team that is passionate in and committed to providing and sustaining the very best learning environment.
